Temporary resident (Mexico)

If you would like to temprary live in Mexico, the Mexican Consulate in your country of origin will grant this visa if you fulfill the following conditions:

      Enough solvencies to cover housing and living expenses during the stay.

      That he or she belongs to a scientist research project or samples recollection in Mexico or Mexican territorial waters with the required authorizations.

      That the conditions for family union with Mexican, Temporary Resident or Permanent Resident are met.

      That has an invitation from an organization or institution (public or private) established in Mexico to participate in some activity which will not generate any income inside the country.

      That has real estate in Mexico.

      That has investments in Mexico such as:
a) Participation in a Capital Stock of a Mexican Company.
b) Real Estate or fixed assets used in a financially productive way.
c) Performance of any economical or entrepreneurial activity.

Take in to consideration that the Temporary Resident Permit, won’t grant a work permit, however under certain circumstances, it is possible to obtain the authorization.

Please note that if you fulfill all the conditions to be a Temprary Resident in Mexico, you will get a visa stamped in your passport but the process wont end there!!

The visa will be then granted for 180. This means that after you get the visa, you have 180 days to come to Mexico but once you are in Mexico, you will have only 30 days to exchange this visa for a residency card at the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM)
